Stress does a number on your health and can lead to not just sleepless nights but also more serious health conditions. Here are some recommended stress relief exercises that can help you recover from particularly stressful days. You’ll find that as you incorporate some of these exercises into your daily habits you will be able to breath easier and bring some much needed balance back into your life.
Yoga is not only a form of strength training, but helps to relieve physical tension. The deep breathing techniques also helps to trigger your body’s relaxation response. Studies have also shown that yoga helps reduce blood pressure and increase mental focus.
Dancing incorporates multiple functions in the body. It sets your body to a rhythm or beat which changes the tempo of your mind and body. All the while destressing your muscles, mind and body.
3) Circuit Training
This is probably one of my favorite stress relievers. The challenge, the vigorous exercises and the focus on the task at hand always relieves any stress I might have for the day. A solid class or bootcamp is just what the Dr ordered.
Unlike some forms of exercise, Pilates does not over-develop some parts of the body and neglect others. While Pilates training focuses on core strength, it trains the body as an integrated whole. Pilates workouts promote strength and balanced muscle development as well as flexibility and increased range of motion for the joints.Attention to core support and full-body fitness — including the breath and the mind — provide a level of integrative fitness that is hard to find elsewhere. It is also the reason that Pilates is so popular in rehab scenarios, as well as a mind body focus to relaxation.
This is another that I like to use, walking just seems to clear your mind. There is something very relaxing about just walking with you and your thoughts. The blood flow to your brain becomes elevated helping you process and resolve problems you might have for the day. Along with your body moving and speeding up your metabolism hence destressing your mind with a useful activity.
We all have stress, and even of we seem to handle stress well, there are always better ways of helping ourselves live a calmer low stress life. If your feeling pressure from life try one of these five techniques and see which one works the best for you.
